Competencies

For each of the 16 Minnesota Director of Special Education Administrative competencies, I have included a narrative reflection with references to artifact evidence demonstrating my experience in the area.  While 2-4 artifacts are provided for each reflection, in some cases it was necessary to create multiple links in order to incorporate component parts of a single artifact. Each reflection incorporates my values and belief that optimal teaching, learning and leading in an effort to impact student achievement is facilitated through a series of diverse partnerships that help guide all stakeholders through the adaptive challenges and future changes facing the delivery of special education services. All reflections are structured around 3 guiding questions to demonstrate my vision, experience and future plans for continued leadership growth.

Guiding Questions:

  1. What does the competency mean in terms of being a school leader?
  2.  How did experiences in the program and field experience contribute to growth in the competency area?
  3.  How do I envision the use of this competency in my pursuit of administrative licensure?
